The Pub
Rebuilt in 1933, The Ship Inn is nestled in the heart of the beautiful sailing village of Itchenor.
The Ship Inn in Itchenor, UK has a rich history that dates back to the 16th century. Originally known as The Noah's Ark, this historic pub has been a popular spot for sailors, fishermen and locals for centuries. In the early days, the pub was a popular stopover for smugglers who would use the inlet near Itchenor as a hideaway.
When they were pursued by the customs officials, they would quickly slip into the pub, and as the law could not enter the premises without a warrant, the smugglers were safe.
In the 18th century, the pub was renamed to The Ship Inn to reflect its maritime connections. It became famous for its hospitality towards sailors, and in the 19th century, the landlord of the pub was also a ferryman, which allowed him to take passengers from the pub to the nearby city of Chichester.

In the 20th century, The Ship Inn became a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, with many visitors attracted to its stunning views of Chichester Harbour. Today, The Ship Inn is still a popular pub that offers great food, drink, and a warm welcome to all who visit.
